PARENT JOURNEY
MAKE A DIFFERENCE
You don’t need a law degree to make a difference. You just need to show up.
Policy change happens when the people who care about an issue refuse to let it be ignored. Parents and caregivers are some of the most powerful advocates for children because this issue is personal for you in a way it can never be for a politician or bureaucrat. Here are concrete ways to help, starting today.

Concrete ways to help
Specific, manageable actions, not overwhelm. Toolkit links and letter templates will be added as they are developed.
ACTION 1
Write to your MP or MLA
Your elected representative works for you. Remind them. A short, direct email, especially one that shares your perspective as a parent, carries real weight. You don’t need to know every bill. Tell them child protection is a priority for your family.
FEDERAL & PROVINCIAL
ACTION 2
Talk about it
One conversation can change someone’s understanding, and their vote. Share what you’ve learned with other parents, at school pickup, on parent council, or online. When more people understand this is a solvable problem, political will grows.

ACTION 3
Stay informed
Legislation moves quickly and quietly. Bills get introduced, debated, passed, or shelved, often without much public attention. Subscribe to PROTECT Canada updates and we’ll let you know when there’s something specific to respond to.

ACTION 4
Support organizations in the coalition
The organizations in this coalition serve survivors, advocate for policy change, and do prevention work every day. Supporting them financially, by volunteering, or by amplifying their work strengthens the whole movement.
